This week the 1st and 2nd graders learned about teamwork and engineering. Our building tools were marshmallows and toothpicks. The first challenge was to build a structure that's more than two stories high, and can withstand an "earthquake". The kids had to work together on design and construction. Then, using the knowledge learned from that challenge, the students were asked to build the strongest structure they could. The structures were tested by adding weight until they collapsed.
We also have entered the exciting world of blogging! We have a class blog that can only be accessed by invitation. It is not a public blog. It's currently set up for just the GT students and myself. Parents can join our blog as guests. If you are interested, please send me an email and I will happily send you an invite. We will use the blog to discuss class happenings, collaborate ideas, and practice our writing skills.
We are continuing our Computer Science lessons and are learning to code (program). This will be an ongoing project in GT.
